Welcome to the international Master of Environmental Policy (iMEP) program! We are a Duke University’s degree program that aspires to create a new cadre of environmental leaders. Our faculty, staff, students, and community partners are committed to finding solutions to tackle the pressing environmental challenges. Through teaching, research, and public engagement, the iMEP program incubates creative ideas for improving environmental quality in China, Asia, and the world.

The iMEP program is built upon the reputation of Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment and Sanford School of Public Policy. It is also deeply grounded in the booming academic community at Duke Kunshan University (DKU), a higher-learning institution jointly launched by Duke University and Wuhan University. DKU is becoming a truely global university that supports educational breadth, free inquiry, and deep engagement.

The connotation of “i” in iMEP extends beyond international. It is interdisciplinary as the iMEP program integrates core courses in environmental management and public policy. It is innovative as the program encourages seeking pathways to apply classroom knowledge to real-world policy applications. It is also inclusive as the program is dedicated to cultivating a multicultural learning environment.

The iMEP program is a young program in a young university. We look forward to shaping the future of iMEP with our students—past, existing and new.
